Thanks, from Sally Kost

Dear Friends,

I have so many people to thank for supporting my successful bid for the Democratic nomination for County Commissioner in District 1.

I’d like to thank my husband Tom for supporting me and joining me on the campaign trail, and patiently putting up with my long absences from home.

I’d like to thank my good friend and running-mate Jeffrey Starkweather for encouraging me to run and providing unconditional support throughout the campaign.

I’m also grateful to all of the Chatham Coalition steering committee members and volunteers for the thousands of hours and dollars they contributed to the campaign. Jan Nichols provided leadership, website management and fundraising prowess. John Hammond helped us gather and crunch data and map out our canvassing goals. Dee Reid made sure our messages were clear and on point, and Lesley Landis made everything we printed look beautiful. All of them and many other volunteers, also canvassed door-to-door with us for weeks, and stood at the polls during early voting and on election day.

I’m thankful for all who supported the Coalition and my campaign with your time and your financial contributions.
A special salute to Beth Kricker, who telephoned friends and supporters, canvassed in the cold and rain, and stood at the polls in the sweltering sun. And many thanks to video-king Mark Barroso, who produced fantastic campaign videos that were available on “You Tube.” And to Mary Hammond, thank you for serving as my treasurer and keeping the campaign finances straight.

I’m grateful to all of you and many other individuals who I won’t try to name here.

I’m also grateful to the Sierra Club, GoodSchoolz, and Pittsboro Together for their endorsements, and to many current and former public officials and friends for their public support.

It took a team of extraordinarily dedicated and hard working people for our campaign to be successful, including people who worked on my behalf who I don’t know about. Thank you to all who volunteered and gave funds, and who put up and took down campaign signs.

And many thanks to everyone who came out and voted for me. We will be gearing up later this summer for the November general election. In the meantime, I am studying the County Manager's Recommended Budget and researching the issues, so that, if successful in November, I will be well prepared to begin serving as your commissioner. I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

With warm wishes,

Sally
